Purdue Pumpkin Chunkin Competition

Did you ever want to build a trebuchet (treb-yoo-shet)?
Can you hit the Great Pumpkin target from up to 100 yards away using a gravity powered trebuchet launching 7 to 10 lb. pumpkins?

Sign up as a team to compete or come out to watch and see which team is the best. Please start planning now to participate. Registration is now open.

Times

  • Setup and practice at Noon – 3:00 pm
  • Qualifying 4:30 PM
  • Competition 5:30 PM
  • Awards 6:30 PM

 

Two divisions:

  • High School (75 yards)
  • Adult (100 yards)

 

Details

  • 7 to 10 lb pumpkins are supplied
  • Each team gets 3 attempts to hit the target
  • All machines must use gravity (falling weights) as their only source of power, pass safety and functionality checks, and be ready for competition at their start times
  • Awards for accuracy, originality, and efficiency will be presented
  • Event will take place rain or shine.
